We use Ashby, our applicant tracking system, which includes some automation for scheduling interviews and sending routine emails. Guides enterprise customers in integrating mathematical optimization technology, acts as a trusted technical advisor, and partners with sales teams to drive new business and customer success.
At Gurobi Optimization, weâre on a mission!
A mission that focuses on mathematical optimization. We empower our customers to expand their use of mathematical optimization technology in order to make smarter decisions and solve some of the worldâs toughest and most impactful business problems. Weâre looking for passionate, dedicated, innovative game-changers to join our team and drive the future of Gurobi.
As a Technical Account Manager (TAM) at Gurobi Optimization, your role primarily involves guiding prospective customers in integrating mathematical optimization technology into enterprise-grade software solutions. This goes far beyond technical advice. You bring clarity, build confidence, and drive progress for everyone along the customer journey.
We are a heterogeneous team of people who care about our work, our customers, and each other. You will join a team that takes ownership and turns ideas into real impact. We value quality and thoughtful work, and we share knowledge openly so that everyone can grow. We also care about balance and wellbeing, and we work together as one global team. If you are looking for a role where you can think deeply, act independently, and collaborate closely, this is a great place to grow.
Technical Account Management at Gurobi is part of the sales organization. We are a team of product and technology experts who partner closely with sales to help drive new business and deliver value to our customers. Technical Account Managers use their expertise to guide key implementation decisions and system architecture. The most important focus of this role is to ensure the efficient utilization of our optimization technology, maximizing business value while considering cost-effectiveness and scalability.
You will collaborate closely with our Account Managers, Experts Advisory and Support, Research and Development, and Marketing teams. You will gain exposure to a wide range of industries and real-world optimization problems, facilitating continuous growth within this role. You can expect a role with real impact on business outcomes and close connection to sales success.
Effective communication skills are essential for Technical Account Managers who interact with diverse audiences, ranging from business decision-makers to technical domain experts. With an analytical mindset and a dedication to knowledge acquisition, Technical Account Managers aim to become trusted advisors throughout the customer engagement process.
You will drive customer success by leading technical conversations with curiosity and a strong focus on understanding the full situation. You will provide guidance on architecture, implementation, and scalability, and help customers build solid and honest business cases. A key part of your work will be delivering workshops, trainings, and demonstrations that make complex topics clear and relevant.
You will be part of a culture that combines high standards with a supportive and human environment. As a new Technical Account Manager at Gurobi, you will receive 6 months of extensive technical training and peer mentoring from our dedicated team.
This role may not be the right fit if you require clearly defined tasks and strict boundaries instead of open-ended challenges and ownership. It may also not suit you if you are uncomfortable with ambiguity, fast-changing situations, or the need to balance technical depth with business thinking. If you prefer to work mostly independently without active collaboration, knowledge sharing, or feedback, you may not enjoy the way our team operates. Finally, if you are looking for a mainly technical role without connection to sales outcomes or business impact, this position will likely not meet your expectations.
Actively engage in calls and meetings with current and future customers.
Collaborate and oversee technical discussions in ongoing business opportunities.
Provide in-depth recommendations on architecture, sizing, implementation and scalability.
Offer coaching and presentations in customized workshops, webinars, and hands-on training sessions.
Assist prospective customers to build solid and honest business cases.
Create and present materials to showcase product functionality and performance.
Take the lead in internal initiatives to improve our processes, systems, and tools.
Leverage your technical expertise as a subject matter expert within the team.
Act as a dedicated team player within our global group, emphasizing mutual support and knowledge sharing as key priorities.
We are looking for people with a technical background related to our field, but not necessarily in the same role. This role calls for a strong understanding of how mathematical optimization empowers customers to build effective decision intelligence solutions. We typically look for at least 3 to 5 years of professional experience, including around 3 years in optimization systems and/or data science.
We are looking for a masterâs degree or higher in operations research, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent work experience.
Communication is essential in this role. We are looking for strong proficiency in both written and spoken English. Additional languages are a plus.
The Technical Account Manager role is largely defined by how we work, not just what we do.
A hands-on, execution-oriented mindset, with a willingness to actively engage and drive work through to completion.
A strong focus on quality, with an emphasis on producing clear, thoughtful, and useful work.
A proactive problem-solving mindset combined with meticulous attention to detail.
A high level of emotional intelligence, particularly in self-awareness, empathy, and self-motivation.
A curious approach, viewing each new situation as an opportunity to learn and improve.
Clear and effective communication that enables others to understand and move forward with confidence, along with meaningful contributions to conversations through both speaking up and attentive listening.
An interest in building communication bridges between technical roles and business executives.
A motivation to learn, grow, and contribute to both individual success and overall team success.
The ability to thrive in a fully remote work environment, balancing flexibility with discipline.
A willingness to travel approximately 1â2 times per month.
The ability to participate in meetings across global time zones within reasonable expectations, including occasional early or late hours when necessary.
Consistent adherence to and support of company policies and procedures.
Proficiency in at least two Gurobi API languages (such as C, C++, Java, Python, C#, or VB.NET) is required.
A basic understanding of IT and software engineering topics, including networking, web technologies, and general software engineering concepts, is expected.
Familiarity with Microsoft 365 products is assumed.
The role requires the ability and willingness to quickly learn and use Salesforce as needed.
A basic understanding of Generative AI, along with an interest in further developing knowledge in this area, is also expected.
Customer Focus:Â Verbal & written communication skills that bring clarity and build trust.
Power of the Team:Motivated with a team-oriented mindset that aims to both inspire and be inspired by others.
Innovation:Â The courage to bring ideas forward and see yourself as an integral part of our global team.
Dedication:Organized and agile, focusing on meeting professional objectives while promoting a healthy work/life balance.
Integrity:Promise to uphold honesty as your compass and conduct all business practices with an ethical mindset and fiscal responsibility.
