About

Joshua started his writing journey at a young age. By the time he was 12 years old, he knew without a doubt he would be writing professionally in some capacity or another.

First, he thought it would be music that he would pursue professionally, writing songs and scores for various instruments. He had a definite knack for it, so throughout his teenage years, he practiced to perfect his craft on guitar and piano, started a band, learned to read and write music and began writing songs.

Upon graduating high school, which he did with honors as a Texas Scholar, Joshua began what he thought would be his career, touring with various band as a lead guitar and keyboard player all over the world — countries including Japan, Malaysia, Costa Rica, Diego Garcia, the United States and Canada.

After touring all over the world for about five years with band members of all ages, Joshua returned home to realize it wasn't music that truly enthralled him. He had always journaled while on tour buses or in hotels when he wasn't on stage, and over time he realized it was the craft of writing that was his true calling.

He finished his first bout with college when he was 23, taking courses online and some on campuses throughout his years touring. With a degree in audio/electrical engineering and production, along with years of real experience in the music industry, he was sought out by the publisher and editor of a fledgling newspaper in his hometown of Paris, Texas and asked to be a staff writer of the publication's Culture section. Joshua accepted the offer, and though he didn't know it at the time, that decision changed his life.

He worked for that newspaper for four years -- growing it from fledgling to a respected news outlet, moving up the ranks from a staff writer, covering everything from culture to crime, to managing editor before the publication was sold and Joshua and his wife and two young daughters moved to Oklahoma.

He was 27 at that time. He did more college -- this time studying English and psychology, of course -- and stayed with journalism. Within a couple weeks of his move from Texas to the Sooner state, Joshua landed a job as a staff writer for the Tulsa World -- one of the state's two largest newspapers. While sharpening his journalism and writing skills with the veteran reporters at the World, he was also busy building quite the repertoire as a freelance writer -- supplementing his income as a copywriter, essayist, public relations and communications specialist, speechwriter and skilled overall writer with multiple specialties.

Due to a divorce and other logistical reasons, Joshua moved from the Tulsa World to the Seminole Producer as the paper's sports editor. where he carried on his journalism career, growing along the way. The Producer was the parent company to three other newspapers, which all fell under Joshua's beat.

After Seminole, he moved to another Oklahoma newspaper in a small city named Okemah. While in Okemah, he also was contracted by the municipality, the City of Okemah, to handle all communications, public relations, and photography needs.

The move was again related to the divorce and location of his two young daughters, who he wanted to stay close to, which, after almost a year, led to another move back to Texas where he now works full-time as a staff writer and photographer for a newspaper in his home state.

At 31, Joshua is now eight years into an award-winning journalism career, covering everything there is to cover in the world of reporting. Aside from that, he's worked in public relations for several healthcare companies, a hospital, a manufacturing company, and others. He maintains a healthy and consistent freelance writing career, along with his reporting work.

If you are looking for a versatile, well-versed, multi-faceted and dependable writer of any kind, Joshua would be an excellent pick. He works well -- if not better -- under pressure, understands the importance of deadlines and meeting them and is always working to perfect his craft.

Easy to work with, fluent in the English language and the use thereof and always willing to work, Joshua is ready to be the writer, researcher, and communicator for your next job.
